Mission: Secrets
OOC: This post takes place during the same timeframe that the one in sickbay is happening.
ON:
Mike had bridge duty. He was happy. He was technically in command doing his shift. He didn't have to think about what was happening with his uncle. He was scared. He had never seen him like that. He had never seen his Aunt so worried. He considered reaching out to his cousin Iris but he really didn't know what to tell her. And there wasn't a lot she could do. He would have to wait and see what happens and then go from there. Or hopefully everything would turn out ok and there would be no need to say anything.
Paul was also on at flight control. It was standard. It wasn't like they were going anywhere. They just made sure that the base was in standard orbit and do it's thing. He enjoyed being flight control of the station, he also manned sensors while here and it was during a sweep he saw something interesting.
"Lt Cmdr, I'm picking up... I honestly don't know what I'm picking up. It's like I saw something for a split second and then it was gone." Paul said to Mike. When they were on duty together he had to call him by rank.
"Can you show me where on screen?" Mike said.
Paul pushed a few buttons and the area of space he was talking about showed up. "It was as if space moved." he said.
"Keep an eye on it." Mike said.
Twenty minutes later. "Sir it's back. Look" Paul said
Mike looked at the screen. "What the hell is that?"
Paul was busy running sensors. "We've got no real information sir."
Within seconds it was gone again.
"I don't like this... Captain Pontmercy, Please report to the Command Center." Mike said. The concern in McMahon's voice alerted Pontmercy at once, and he responded with a quick acknowledgement, and headed for where he was needed.
It only took a moment or two, and when he strode across the decking he looked between Paul and Mike, a question on his face.
"What's going on, gentlemen?"
"Sir, we were monitoring sensors when we saw this strange blip. We ended up looking and found nothing, but then all of a sudden it came back. It was almost like a ship but then it disappeared again. And it's not on sensors again." Mike said looking at Marius. "I have no other explanation except it was there then it wasn't, then it came back and now it's gone again. Paul is trying to run a different varaiation on the sensors to see if we can trace or figure it out."
Paul nodded. "Nothing yet, but I'm all set if it does come back again." Marius grew serious.
"Set up a tachyon detection grid," he ordered. If this was cloaked Romulans he'd be damned if they would get by him.
Mike nodded and went to the controls and set up the system to be ready for the burst. "On your command sir." he said. Marius waited a moment, and when nothing was spoken, he asked,
"Anything?" He watched the viewport with bated breath, glancing back and forth from that to the console in front of him.
Paul shook his head. "No sir... Wait. Look"
A massive object appeared just outside of where the burst was sent. It appeared to be a ship. A large ship. The exterior appeared to be made from a reflective, dark metal alloy, in hues of gunmetal, silver, and obsidian, with hints of glowing energy running through conduits or panels, illuminating in patterns across the surface. These glowing elements gave off a cold, neon-like light.
"What the hell is that," Pontmercy asked, to no one in particular? It was like nothing he had ever seen before. "Hail them," he said. When he got the notification that the channel was open, he walked to his chair and sat. "This is Captain Marius Pontmercy of the Starbase Obsidian to the unknown vessel orbiting us. Please identify yourself."
"Give us what we want" a voice said over the speakers. Marius glanced quickly at McMahon.
"I am sorry...what do you want?"
"We know he is there. Give him to us." the alien voice said
McMahon looked at the Captain. It all made sense now. He quickly muted the channel. "Sir based on what's been going on... I think they want my Uncle."
Still muted, Pontmercy glared. "Over my dead body," he said. Giving the signal to unmute he turned back to the screen.
"I am assuming you mean Admiral Bradley. He is... indisposed at the moment. What else can I help you with?"
The ship disappeared from view. Within seconds the base rocked as if something hit it.
"Red alert," Marius shouted! "All hands, this is Captain Pontmercy. Battle stations, we have an unknown hostile enemy attacking the base, and it looks like they are going to try and take one of our members by force. Lock it down, and prepare for a fight."
All of a sudden the ship appeared again and then could be seen leaving the area.
As if within seconds " Admiral Olvera to Captain Pontmercy."
What in the world was happening, he thought to himself.
"This is Pontmercy," he said aloud.
The ship disappeared as it left.
"Captain, Admiral Bradley is gone. When the base shook he disappeared." Dakota said. Marius grit his teeth.
"Well....fu-"
