Mission: Secrets
ON:
Paul felt somewhat important. Because he was the one that noticed the difference in space he had been asked to help figure out the data that was there. He knew a bit about the Synthulans from what Mike had told him but he needed to try and figure out anything they could about them by just looking and some scans he did.
Hannah was picking herself up off the floor in her lab, she probably looked a whole lot worse than she actually was, this was what scientists called 'going down the rabbit hole' and ever the nerd she wasn't the type to put something down when it was put in front of her, especially something new, it wasn't without dangers either, but at least she wasn't forgetting food or drink this time. Looking at the various analyses she'd been running she sighed at least they were moments away from being completed.
Paul made his way to the lab and entered. "Hi. I'm here to help you out with whatever I can give you from what I saw."
T'Shas entered the lab that Hannah has been using. She nodded to the others, "I am here to help as needed."
"Tell me what you saw please." Hannah said picking up her water bottle and downing about half of it.
“Just before the ship appeared, there was a spot as if space stood still.” Paul said
"As in it wasn't there one minute and then was the next?" Hannah asked
"I guess you could say that - Space stood still and the ship appeared. It happened twice. The last time was just before the Admiral was taken. " Paul said.
"That backs up data from eight years back." Hannah said "I'd say it's a very distinctive warp print not that it gets us much."
"Do we have the records from when they showed up eight years ago?" Paul asked.
"We do." Hannah said bringing up the exterior camera records from eight years ago along with the sensor records "Watch, nothing there one minute and then the most minute of energy pulses on sensors and suddenly there's a ship there, I've never seen anything like it."
"Ok, wait..." Paul said. "Do a comparison of when they left this time, to when they left eight years ago. Something is different. I feel like I saw something. Remember we launched a burst at them. There was this... blip. Almost as if we actually hit them. It may not have caused damage but I bet it did something. "
Hannah brought up the more recent incident and they watched it "Identical which is what you'd expect from technology, minute energy pulse they leave the same way there one moment and gone the next, nothing odd about that." she said struggling to hide the glee in her voice as she spotted it "But that phaser burst from the station... what if the energy composition from it interacted with whatever energy the ships engine puts out, that could certainly light it up by supercharging it... and maybe more."
"Right. That's what I was thinking. " Paul pointed to a tiny blip that was there for a fraction of a second. "Right there. It looks as if it's slightly off. Could we maybe get readings of that? Perhaps see if that can be tracked?"
"We can certainly try." Hannah said
"Anything would be better than not doing something at this point. " Paul said. "I trust you can do that from down here?"
"I can yes." Hannah said, she had a horrible feeling the more she thought about it that she wasn't going to like the answer.
Paul waited as Hannah did the calculations and inputted the data.
Hannah carefully put the data in and ran the model, it tracked for about thirty seconds and then the moment the ship vanished it registered very odd readings, waving T'Shas over so as to ensure that she hadn't done something wrong Hannah ran the model again and got the same result. Then she backed away looking at the results cupping her nose and mouth with her hands "You're kidding me." she said barely above a whisper "That's inter dimensional."
Paul looked at Hannah. "Well that's not good. Finding these guys maybe harder than we thought."
"Possibly yes." Hannah said "But we know something we didn't previously know. If they're in a different dimension then it explains a lot. Now we have a specific idea of what we need to think about, we have an answer, maybe not the one we were looking for but it is an answer."
"I agree. I think we should report our findings to the senior staff." Paul said.
Hannah nodded "I'll get everything onto a PADD then." she said
