Mission:
Secrets
Location: Hannah's Lab
Timeline: current
The base was still a hive of activity, efforts continued to be focused on getting answers to questions. Once they had the answers then just how they were going to pull off this rescue and get Admiral Bradley back. To say this wasn't the sort of situation Charlotte liked would be an understatement, she preferred choosing the battlefield and bringing the target to her, control the battlefield, control the risk, keep people alive and up the chances of mission success. However in this instance she knew that they were going to have to go into Synthulan territory wherever that was and rescue the Admiral from there all of which amounted to going in blind, higher chance of injury, increased risk factor and so on. However one thing at a time and all that, so here Charlotte was stepping into her sisters lab.
"So what's all this about these Synthulans being inter dimensional?" Charlotte asked looking at where Hannah was stood looking at the various computer displays in the lab.
"Their warp print." Hannah said indicating the reading on the screen "Two closest matches in the Federation database are a Species 8472 bioship and the anomaly recorded at Veridian Three decades ago when the Enterprise-D was lost. Energy readings suggest interdimensional travel."
"Ok so next question." Charlotte said "Do the Synthulans live in another dimension or do they just travel through it as part of their equivalent of warp travel?"
"Unknown." Hannah said "Based on events from eight years ago part of me thinks that's where they live."
"Why?" Charlotte asked
"If you're as powerful as they clearly are, to the point where they can subdue this base with minimal effort then why leave after a week? The assembled fleet surely doesn't pose a threat." Hannah said
"So?" Charlotte asked
"Think of it like how long a human can last without water." Hannah said "What if they have a limited amount of time that they can exist outside of their dimension? That would explain why we've never seen them before, it would explain why they just upped and disappeared eight years ago."
"Ok so assume we have to go into another dimension to get the Admiral back, how do we get there without stealing a Synthulan ship? As I don't think that's about to happen." Charlotte asked then she noticed that Hannah was fidgeting a little "You've already figured it out haven't you?"
"Yeah." Hannah said "But..."
"How many rules are we breaking this time?" Charlotte asked
"A few." Hannah said
"Tell me." Charlotte said
Hannah took a breath and brought a file up on the main screen in the lab "Ok." she said "Almost two hundred years ago Starfleet outfitted a pair of ships with an experimental propulsion system, these files were all sealed and secured top secret, high level security clearance, pretty much top of the forget list." she took a breath "These files were part of a cache of information that Captain Pontmercy retrieved from that Tal'Shiar cloning facility, because surprise surprise General Jackson had the right security clearance."
"And this can get us into a different dimension?" Charlotte asked
"It can." Hannah said "It needs a ship..."
"Already asked for one." Charlotte said "We were already going to need one to modify to make it as tactically versatile as possible because who knows what the Synthulans are capable of. But you're the one telling the Captain we're breaking rules... again."
"Oh joy." Hannah said "Anything else to worry about?"
"How hard is it to move this base?" Charlotte asked
"Very easy." Hannah said "Assuming we can get a localised subspace field around the base then it's no harder than moving Deep Space Nine was for Dax and O'Brien. Just need to know where we're going."
"And that's a conversation for the staff." Charlotte said
