Coincidence was a wonderful thing at times, when she'd gone and talked to the Captain Charlotte had known that going up against the Synthulans with the Arcadia alone was probably the easiest way to lose a ship and a whole lot of good people, that wasn't her way of working, that was why she'd asked Talbot to get them a ship that was designed for a fight and could probably survive one, at the very least going in with more than just the Arcadia was a sound plan. And now that Hannah had found what she'd found having another ship was even more helpful than had previously been estimated, they'd gone from not having a clue how to pull it off to theoretically being able to get there and get back... it was progress even if they still hadn't figured out the bit in the middle. But the important thing was they had a first step and what a first step it was, Talbot had really come through because sat at one of the bases docking berths was an Inquiry Class starship, the exact model Charlotte had asked for - why an Inquiry Class? Simply put it was designed in the same mould as the old Defiant Class, it could do a bit of everything but it really shone when it came to having to fight. It was sleek, it was fast, it was agile in short it was everything that a high risk rescue operation cried out for. As for the ship's name well it was called the Angel.

Work on the ship had begun quite quickly, whether it was engineers bringing systems up to date or security personnel assessing weapons or any one of several other inspections going on. The upper level of engineering had had a section sealed off by Hannah as she'd gotten to work on her part, but again progress was progress giving the base personnel something to do, something to work on at least sent the message that they were getting there. Charlotte and Okan found Hannah and Maddy in that engineering section.

"How are we doing?" Charlotte asked
"It'll work, it's going to be an engineering job to get this thing in but she'll do it." Hannah said "I've got the room marked out and I'm waiting on an engineering team."
"And that room?" Okan asked pointing at a door
"That's our greenhouse." Hannah said "Well more precisely our shipboard one. We're taking an unused section of the base as the main one."
"And we're growing what exactly?" Charlotte asked
"Prototaxites Stellaviatori." Hannah said
"It's a fungus." Maddy said
"Let me show off will you." Hannah said
"So we use this fungus to power an engine and it'll allow us to go wherever the Synthulans have Admiral Bradley whether that's in this dimension or another?" Charlotte asked
"Short answer yes it will." Hannah said
"Long answer?" Charlotte asked
"There's another component, DNA from a sort of animal lifeform, that needs to be harvested and then used in combination with someone." Hannah said "That's augmentation, when this was first conceived Starfleet turned a blind eye because war with the Klingons was happening, it was existential. This isn't..."
"And we don't want to lose who we are." Charlotte said

"Ewan's aboard." Maddy said after a minute
"Did he bring her?" Charlotte asked "More to the point is she ready?"
"She'll have to be I guess." Maddy said
"Talk to him." Charlotte said "Okan what else have we got?"
"The Kaplan F17's are in the shuttlebay, there's two of them, we've got a variety of weapons scavenged from scrapyards, we've got a cloaking device that appears Federation in origin..." Okan said
"Ok I want the Kaplan's outfitted with EMP's, they probably don't survive this so let's use them for what we can, and have them rigged with docking hatches on their undersides. Mix up the Angels weapons arrays I don't want all phasers, mix in disruptor beams, compressors, polarons and all that jazz, heck if you can figure out a Borg cutting beam do it. I want the armour upgraded and I want the Wesley Crusher chip installed both shields and weapons."
"I'll get on it." Okan said
"Same with hand weapons brought aboard and stowed, mix it up." Charlotte said "Treat this as if fighting the Borg."
