Mission: Secrets
Location: USS Renee Picard
Timeline: current

It had happened suddenly, without warning and had been over before anyone had really been able to do anything about it - the Synthulan attack across Federation space had hit seemingly everything and anything and the USS Renee Picard was no exception, the Ascension class starship might have been one of the larger vessels in the fleet, it might have been one of the more powerful ones but even that paled in comparison to what had hit it. For many years this ship had been the command of Admiral Sam Fernley, he stood close to six feet in height with brown hair, brown eyes and a quite noticeable amount of facial hair. The ship itself presently found itself sat at the bottom of an ocean on a planet in the Beta Quadrant, which considering the circumstances wasn't the worst outcome, in fact were it not for some creative piloting from Sam's eldest daughter things would undoubtedly have turned out quite differently. That didn't however mean that the ship and crew had escaped unscathed, there were several significant hull breaches and a very large number of casualties and wounded.

Sam was walking through the corridors of the ship, having just checked in with sickbay, when his wife Felix caught up with him, she was the closest thing left aboard to a chief engineer, running a hand through her multi-coloured hair she fell into step next to her husband.
"Give me some good news Felix." Sam said
"Well we'll have the warp core back online any minute." Felix said "And force fields are holding so we're not taking on any more water. But until we drain the water out we're not getting into either shuttle bay."
"And how does water affect our Kestral's?" Sam asked
"They should be fine." Felix said
"Let's hope so." Sam said

A couple of moments later the pair were stepping onto the bridge of the ship, it was manned by three people or to put it more accurately it was manned by Sam and Felix's three children - Niamh was sat at the helm, Harry was working the ops station and Lucy was sat at the science console. For three teenagers they were a lot calmer than might have been expected under the circumstances, though whether that was natural or down to their parents keeping them focused on something was probably up for debate.

"We've got an incoming transmission." Harry said "Starfleet coded transmission, it's got all manner of things attached with it."
"Bring it up." Sam said, the viewscreen displayed an authorisation request, whoever this was from knew what they were doing that was for sure, Sam punched in his clearance code and then the viewscreen went dark for a moment before a familiar face appeared on it. "Lieutenant V'Lar, to what do I owe this pleasure?"
"Admiral Fernley?" V'Lar said somewhat taken aback that a former CO of hers was on the other end of the call.
"There a problem Lieutenant?" Felix asked
"No." V'Lar said "I'm just relieved to see you survived the assault."
"We nearly didn't." Sam said giving Niamh an affectionate nudge which sent his daughter a shade of red closely resembling her hair colour.
"Not funny." Niamh said burying her face into her hands
"Come to Persia's marvel." V'Lar said "But I need you to do something on the way."
"What is it?" Lucy asked, Sam chuckled his children had always been the curious types
"Go to where the saint of Spain, second Emperor of Rome and a man from leprechaun country died and pick up the remains of the grandma of your sisters horse." V'Lar said, Sam had to smile V'Lar was displaying all her intelligence training in how she was communicating the information.
"We're on our way." Sam said turning and nodding at Harry who cut the signal. "Please tell me the warp core is online now."
"Warmed up and ready." Felix said
"Ok Niamh get us the heck out of this ocean and set a course." Sam said "You know where we're going?"
"Yes Dad I do." Niamh said as she started inputting commands with one hand and kept a firm grip on the manual flight stick with her right she always preferred to fly manual.
"Good let's go." Sam said.
