Mission: Obsidian
On:
Marius had yet to hear from the away team, and so he was assuming that they were still on their way. Commander Haines would check in when he had something to report. So instead he would focus on other things while he waited. Stepping out of his ready room he made his way to the turbolift.
"Promenade," he ordered and felt it begin to descend. He reflected as he waited on the things that had happened since he arrived on the Obsidian station, and how far they had come. Although the base had a lot of work still needed until it was in perfect working order, the Engineering and Operations crew had been working around the clock and had truly done amazing work in clearing up the debris and repairing the systems. Today was the proof of that.
As the turbolift doors opened, he was greeted by a new site. Where once their were pylons and destruction throughout, it was now safe to walk, and on its way to being back to the way it had once looked. And a few shops had begun to set up as well, something he had been looking forward to. He knew that it would not be the bustling promenade of DS9, and yet seeing restaurants, bars, and a few retailers begin to fill in the space lifted his spirits. He stopped at the first shop on his right, a bar that did not have its name put up yet, and looked for the owner. Just then, a man stepped out of the backroom, his arms full of a crate of bottles. Setting it down on top of the bar, he looked towards Marius, who smiled in greeting.
"Hello," Marius began, "I'm Captain Pontmercy."
"Ah, hello Captain. I am sorry that I cannot offer you a drink yet, but come by in a few hours and I will be ready for business. My name is Thomas Nash, by the way."
"Mr. Nash, it is nice to meet you. No worries about the drink, I am still on duty anyways. I just wanted to stop in and see how things were going, and if you needed anything."
"Thank you, but actually your crew have been extremely helpful! I have been just organizing and setting up everything, but they have come by a few times already to see what I needed. I really appreciate that." It was always good to hear that his people were being accommodating, he would have to mention that in the next senior staff meeting.
"I am glad to hear that," he said honestly. "I will leave you to it, but let me know if you need anything, Thomas. We are glad that you are here."
"Thank you, Captain. I will. I think think this will be an interesting home to say the least, but I am glad I am here too." Marius laughed, and with a head nod towards the other man, he headed on down the promenade to check in with the other shops.
