Mission: Secrets

ON

Mike received notice that Admiral Tabolt wanted to see him. He immediately tried to figure out what he did wrong. He had actually been doing his job, been on the away team, and was working up the courage to ask the restaurant owner on a date. He headed into the area where the admirals offices were and noticed neither his aunt or uncle were in their offices, which was weird. He chimed Admiral Tabolt's door for entrance.

Michael, hearing the chime at his door, cleared his throat and rubbed his face to try and wake up. He had been spending a significant amount of time in his office with Chris and Dakota out, for obvious reasons and it was catching up to him.

"Come in," he called. Seeing Mike, he gave a tired smile, and motioned for the man to have a seat.

Mike walked in. "Good Afternoon Sir. " He took a seat. "Whatever I did - I blame Jordan Haines." Michael's smile widened for a second at that, and let out a chuckle, which quickly faded.

"You didn't do anything wrong," he said, "but there is something wrong," Tabolt admitted. "Your Uncle Chris has been relieved of duty for the time being. Has anyone filled you in?"

"No.. what happened? Is he ok?" Mike said worried. "Is my Aunt ok?"

"Your Aunt is fine, she has taken off time to be with him, which is understandable. Your uncle is alive, but sedated at the moment. He has been suffering mood swings, displaying aggression, having hallucinations, both auditory and visual, and is being treated." Michael leaned forward. "Before all of this, do you remember him saying anything odd or acting strange?"

Mike thought for a moment. "When he first got here he was very secretive. I know he was drinking a lot, and going off to talk to people we couldn't see." Mike looked at Tabolt. "I remember overhearing him say he wouldn't let anyone hurt my aunt or cousin." Michael frowned, he hadn't known about the drinking.

"Well most of that is in alignment with what the doctors and Counselor is saying. We think it has to do with his previous mission here 8 years ago."

"I know some of what happened. I know he was hospitalized for a while. He hardly spoke of it to anyone but I knew he couldn't discuss most of it because of intelligence. I think he had wanted to get out and go back to work but my aunt wouldn't let him until he was healed." Mike said with a grin. "That's around the time my Aunt assigned me to work with him for the second time. Because I had to help him, I got some of the information as to what happened to him. Could they be responsible for this?"

"We think it is possible, but as of right now we do not have any definitive proof... we are hoping that Chris can fill in some gaps once he is back to his normal self. Until then, we are on a higher alert, trying to remain vigilant until we get some answers."

"What can I do to help?" Mike said.

"First, you can go visit your Aunt and Uncle, they are in Medbay 5 in Sickbay. Then you can get with Intelligence and see what they can figure out about this mess."

"Understood. I'll do that." Mike said standing. "Admiral, thanks for being the one to tell me. I appreciate it." Michael stood as well.

"Of course, Mike. Your Aunt and Uncle are like family to me, and so I guess that makes you family too." He waved as McMahon exited, and then sat back down to work.
