Mission: Secrets

On:

Captain Pontmercy was finishing up a report to Starfleet Command when he received word that Commander Haines' shuttle had docked. Jordan had been called away suddenly for a family emergency, but had managed to make it back before the lockdown began.

"Commander Haines," Marius said, tapping his comm badge, "please report to my ready room."

Jordan headed to Pontmercy’s office, ready to get back to work. He had left in a hurry when he’d heard his brother Jaden had been gravely injured. Jordan didn’t care about a lot of people but he would go to hell and back for his brothers and Jenna. He walked into Marius’ ready room and over to a chair, sitting down. Jordan waited for Marius to speak.

"Welcome back, Commander. I wish I could give good news, but a lot has happened in a short amount of time. I trust you noticed the base in lockdown?"

“Yes.” Jordan nodded. “As soon as you catch me up I will be ready to jump into the fray.” Jordan had never been afraid of trouble.

"Well I know you're aware that Admiral Bradley was taken forcibly from the base by the Synthulans. They bypassed our shields as if they weren't even there." Marius paused a moment before continuing. "Charlotte has put together an away mission to rescue the Admiral, but we are assuming there will be retribution, and swiftly. Because of this I have ordered that Civilians and non essential personnel leave the base, and if they choose to remain... They stay until further notice. While the away team is gone we will be moving Obsidian Station to another location, for safety."

Jordan listened as he spoke and an eyebrow rose. “You’re moving the base.” He grinned at him momentarily. “You are thinking like a Haines.” His gaze turned serious. “What is the plan to rescue Bradley?”

"Charlotte will be able to give you more specifics, honestly you should meet with her anyways. Basically myself and Admiral Tablet gave her permission to use....less than legal means to get him back. It sounds like they're using a spore drive to jump into the Synthulans dimension. They'll rescue him and jump back, hopefully to the new coordinates." Marius sighed. "It's not great, but this is war."

“I live for any means necessary.” Jordan replied. “Charlotte and I are a force when we work together. I’ll head there as soon as I leave here.” Marius nodded, glad to hear it.

"I am glad you are back, Jordan. We have a lot on our plate right now. We have the war with the Romulans and Cardassians, the Synthulans, moving the base, finding the Admiral... it is a lot. Also, Doctor Hemsley and her family have left the station, at least for now. She requested leave to make sure that her children are safe. It is indefinite. So, I have promoted Lieutenant Stokes to Acting Chief Medical Officer, and have promoted Ensign Couldis to a Lieutenant Junior Grade, and am moving her to Acting Chief Counselor."

“A lot happened while I was gone.” Jordan conceded. He looked at Marius. “I needed to go and I am relieved you approved it. I wouldn’t have asked if it hadn’t been an emergency.” Marius rolled his eyes.

"Which is why I approved it. In this uncertain time, it is imperative that we take care of whatever we can. Now that you are back, though, I have a few tasks I could use your help with."

“Name it.” Jordan said immediately. “I’ve been idle too long. I need to get to work.” Jordan hated being away from them but he had to help Jaden. It was his way.

"We are about to go into a meeting to find out details that the Admiral had been working on involving moving the base. Once this meeting is concluded, I would like you to meet with our Chief Engineer and ensure that he has everything he needs to get this started, and quickly. We only have a short window available to us to get this base moved. I would like you to then meet with Senior Staff members, and make sure that they have everything they need before we go dark. It will be a dangerous road ahead of us, and I want to be prepared."

“Consider it done.” Jordan nodded. “Knowing our crew they will come to the table more than ready. We have the best of Star fleet here.” Marius sighed with relief.

"Damn I am glad you are back. Anything else before we head to the briefing?"

“I am good.” Jordan said with a smile as he stood up. “Let’s go raise hell.” Marius stood as well, and walked around his desk.

"That would be a good day," he said with a small laugh, and the pair exited the Ready Room.
