Final testing aboard the Angel was actually far calmer than might have been expected considering what the stakes were. In fact the ship sat almost empty as they were doing this final run of system testing and diagnostics. In engineering Codi was standing in a transparent cuboid shape otherwise known as the reaction cube, it was completely empty apart from her and a podium that was supporting a giant DNA sensor pad. Outside of that section the room had three consoles which was where Hannah and Ewan were standing.

"Ok then." Hannah said "This is a simple ignition and reaction test we're not jumping. Ewan you'll monitor Codi and I'll deal with the spores."
"Copy that." Ewan said bringing up his technical and detailed information regarding Codi.
"Loading the spores now." Hannah said taking a capsule full of the spores, lifting it and then inserting it into the console she was at.
"Emotion chip off Codi." Ewan said
"Copy that." Codi said with the slightest of twitches that disabled the chip.
"Spooling up the drive." Hannah said "How's she looking?"
"Everything reads optimal." Ewan said
"Black alert." Hannah said "Codi you're up."

Codi put her hands on the sensor pad in front of her and the pad lit up.
"Positive reaction." Ewan said "So you can fake it with bio neural gel packs."
"Inputting test coordinate sequence and cutting off in ten seconds." Hannah said, the drive was still spooled up but a few seconds later it was wound down. "Everything still in one piece?"
"Looks like it." Ewan said "Codi any damage?"
"All systems operating within normal parameters." Codi said "Can I switch the emotion chip back on now?"
"If you want to." Ewan said, Codi twitched again and stepped out of the cube.

"The next time we do that it's for real." Hannah said bringing up the test telemetry, everything looked good
"What do you think?" Ewan asked
"I think as long as it puts us deep enough in that nebula and has the juice to get us back then I'll call it a success." Hannah said
