Mission:
Secrets
Location: Museum Decks
Timeline: current
It had been a simple enough task right? Create a memorial for those lost. In truth there was another reason behind why V'Lar had trusted this to Ruby and it wasn't because of Ruby's art skills or creativity, it was quite simply to give Ruby something to focus on and with nine decks for a canvas that was a lot of space to unleash on. Step one had been the planning stage, the walls on each of the nine decks were split up by markings and each section had either the name of one of the Federation worlds that had fallen victim or one of the ships that had, there was also a spot on the floor right in the middle of the museum complex that was marked for something else. Step two had been getting the lighting fitted onto the walls, that had taken some doing but it turned out that a few appeals to the operations crew could move mountains especially when everyone was still trying to process what had happened and likely needed something to focus on just as Ruby herself did. Step three was the easiest one, get the computer to play her music playlist while she worked.
Her plan for each of the sections was simple enough - a stained glass mural, in the case of the ships lost that would be of the ships, with their motto's against a space background, in the case of the planets it would be a more cultural one - and those were the ones that would take the most time, because Ruby really really wanted to get them right. Presently she was finishing fitting the last stained glass piece to the very first ship mural, this one belonged to the USS Helen Sharman, a Gagarin class starship. With the last piece placed Ruby took a step back to view the image it looked good the ship travelling past a planet in the background in a hurry. Now for the final part Ruby stepped back up to the glass a cutting tool that was akin to a laser scalpel in one hand, though the device was a little bulkier the precision nature of the tool was no different, she had the PADD listing the ships crew in her other hand, this was one that was confirmed as lost with all hands. Using her cutting tool she began to carve into the glass the names of each of the crew starting with the captain and working her way down the ranks. All the while the music played on in the background and all the while Ruby kept referring back to the PADD making sure that every apostrophe, hyphen, accent and so on was in the correct place on each and every name as she carved it in.
