As Marius drank the last of his coffee, he walked across the floor of his office and deposited the mug into the replicator tray. He stretched, and then tapped his comm badge.

"Ensign Ritt, please report to my ready room."

“On my way,” Yujas replied though his combadge as he wiggled his large body free of the conduit he’d been working on and headed to the Captain’s ready room. Buzzing the door he waited for the Captain to admit him.

"Come in," the Captain called from within.

Yujas entered the ready room and let the door close behind him. “Reporting as ordered, sir,” he said standing at attention.

"At ease, Ensign," Marius said, and motioned for him to have a seat. "Thank you for getting here so quickly." When the man complied, Marius gave a small smile. "How are you holding up with everything that has happened?"

“I have a lot of work to keep me busy, sir,” Yujas said with a grin.

"That's definitely true. I know we are all feeling the massive losses," Pontmercy said sadly. "What's the latest with your department?"

“We are ready for anything that may arise, sir,” Yujas said with a slight nod. “You just give the word.”

"That kind of attitude is exactly what's going to help us in this long right," Marius praised. "In fact, it's one of the reasons I called you in here. Ensign Ritt, because of your bravery, your willingness to do whatever is asked of you, and your dedication to this crew, I am promoting you to Lieutenant Junior Grade," the Captain said with a smile.

“Thank you, Captain,” Yujas said with a nod. “I’m proud to serve onboard Obsidian!”

"I'm glad to hear you say that," Pontmercy admitted, "because your duties are about to be a bit more complex. That promotion also includes the move to Assistant Chief of Security."

Yujas looked as shocked as he could for a Cardassian. “Thank you, sir,” he said with a nod. “I will work hard, you won’t regret your decision.” Marius nodded.

"I know I won't," the Captain admitted. "It is not hard to see that you are the perfect person for this position. With you and Lieutenant Haines in charge of our Security, our enemies will have a hard time finding a way at us."

“Definitely,” Yujas said firmly. “I’ll fight to the death!”

"Let's hope that isn't necessary," Marius said seriously. "Please report to Lieutenant Haines, and let me know what you all develop for our security. Dismissed."
