Mission: A Leap of Faith
Location: Jordan's Office

Aurora had arrived at the star base a few days ago and had checked into guest quarters so she could get the feel of the star base. Finally it was time to report to the command staff. Checking with the computer Aurora found the captain was tied up but the first officer was free. After finding his office Aurora headed there and palmed the door sensor and waited for permission to enter,

"Come in." Jordan replied. He sat at his desk, having just finished up a couple cookies he had snagged from Charlotte's before he left that morning. A glass of milk would have beeng good but he had washed them down with his coffee, which had grown cold from sitting on his desk. He looked up as Aurora walked into his office.

"Lieutenant Winters reported for duty commander," Aurora said handing him her transfer irders.

Jordan looked them over. He wondered how she felt. They made rhe transfer official but everyone assigned here were officers from ships who had seen death, loss and destruction. She was a refugee just like the rest of them.

"Have you been cleared by counseling?" He asked her quietly.

Aurora shopk her head "Not yet, I arrived a couple days ago and checked into guest quarters so I could get a feel of things. Now it's time to report in and get cleared and find my quarters. Then get to work."

"You will be very busy." Jordan replied. "We've reseeded the planet and there are refugees who are settling and planting. Your department is important in seeing that we are successful."

"I'm looking forward to it," Aurora replied, "What do you need me to do first? I should find my quarters and check out of guest quarters."

"Get cleared by medical and counseling." Jordan ordered. "Then report to your office where I am certain there is a lot of work waiting."

Aurora nodded, "I'll get right on it commander"

"Your dismissed." Jordan said quietly. He sat back and waited for her to head on her way.

Aurora got to her feet, thanked the first officer and headed out. Next stops were to get cleared for duty and then find her office and quarters.
