Mission: Obsidian
Location: Captain’s Ready room

On:

Once Yujas docked in the docking bay, he got out of the shuttle to more than a few stares. Ignoring the stares, he headed to meet the Captain and let him know he was there. It wasn’t lost on Yujas that Pontmercy had been given this derelict base, why he had no idea because the Captain was a fine officer and having served with him before, he knew how by the book Pontmercy was. Arriving at the Captain’s ready room, he hit the chime and waited to be admitted.

Marius had been expecting this visit after the way the Lieutenant had been unceremoniously halted before docking.

"Enter," the Captain said.

Yujas walked into Pontmercy’s ready room and stood at attention in front of the Captain’s desk. “Lt. Ritt reporting in, Captain.”

"At ease, Lieutenant," Marius said dryly, and motioned for him to take a chair. He sighed. "I apologize for the lack of a...welcome when you arrived. I am sure you are aware of how high tensions are right now."

“Of course,” Yujas replied with a nod as he took a seat. “Unfortunately, there is little that can be done about the current events.” Marius shook his head.

"Not presently, but we are working to change that. It is good to see you again, it has been a long time since the Ghost," he said.

“Yes it has but I’m looking forward to serving under you again,” Yujas said. “And I’m here to help with any conflict from the Cardassian’s even though they are my people, I have no alliance to them, my first alliance is to the federation and you.”

"I am sure that that will be difficult, but it means a lot. So," he said, leaning back, "We are glad to have you in Security. We need as many people helping protect the base as possible."

“And I will protect the base,” Yujas said. “I understand the base has taken heavy damage, I’m ready to help in any capacity that is needed.”

"I appreciate that. Right now I would check in with Lieutenant Haines and see where he needs you the most. Everything is a little all over the place while we sort out this mess and try to put it back together." Marius gave a wry chuckle. "Hopefully we will be repaired before the Cardassians and Romulans damage it again."

“We’ll be ready,” Yujas said with a grin. “That much you can’t count on, Captain.”

"I certainly hope so," Marius said. "Either way, we will give them hell." He glanced down at the record in front of him, and then back at the Lieutenant. "What have you been up to in the past few years?"

“Nothing much,” Yujas replied with a sigh. “The Federation bounced me around here and there, interrogations and pretty much blacklisted me so that I had to just pick up what I could, shuttle runs and the occasional odd assignment. I never stayed in one place more than a few weeks, I hope this time will be……different.” Marius looked shocked.

"You are a Starfleet Officer... you went through the Academy, I am surprised they treated you that way, even being a Cardassian."

“It wasn’t a complete surprise, sir,” Yujas said with a shrug. “But it was unexpected. In any case I’m here now and plan to stay if you’ll allow it.”

"You are the same as any other Starfleet Officer in my book. If anyone treats you differently here, I expect you to let me know."

“Thank you, Captain,” Yujas said getting to his feet. “It goes without saying that my loyalties are here and always will be.”

"Good to hear. Thank you for stopping by Lieutenant. Dismissed," Marius said with a small smile.

Yujas left Pontmercy’s office and headed off to find Haines.
