Mission: Obsidian
On:
Erin Couldis walked alone along the promenade, amidst the broken pylons and debris. Although many systems had been restored, she found that this area of the base was still operating under reduced power, and so the lighting was dim and eery. She found herself sifting through the stillness, searching for minds that were not there. Although it was an unconscious action, she still felt guilty. Bring a mind reader had been helpful when working as the Captain's advisor, but it felt almost out of place in her role as Science Officer. Still, it was useful when she attempted to keep herself from imagining someone or something jumping out at her in the dim light.
As she journeyed through the area, she examined the abandoned and semi-demolished buildings that had once housed shops, bars, and restaurants. It was almost sad, as if she was walking through the graveyard of abandoned joy and relax. She hoped that one day soon they would have such places here again. She imagined that the crew or the Obsidian could use places to decompress, especially after the stressful few weeks they had endured getting the base operational again.
This line of thought led her to think about Lieutenant Cruz. The Vulcan woman seemed out of sorts the last time they had interacted, and Erin hoped the woman was getting the help that she needed. She knew that being Chief was stressful enough, and adding the influence of her diagnosis on to of that...Couldis felt for her. She felt for all of them, really. She hoped that they would have good news...son. they could use something positive.
