ON
Mike sat at the console. "Come on you stupid thing. Make sense. None of this makes any sense and if I hear user error one more time I'm going to punch you." He said to no one except the console.
Jordan sat on the edge of the table with a wide grin on his face. Mike was in full mode, trying to make some sense of what they brought back. “Try sweet talkin it, maybe it wants some striking done first.”
"First it comes up in code. Then when I break the code - it goes into another code. It's like all the logs got jumbled at one point so trying to figure which is which is fun. But I'm starting to find the Captain logs but they just suddenly stop." Mike said scratching his head.
“Seems to me that they didn’t want it to be easy to detect.” Jordan replied. “They want to make certain the person who finds them, is someone worth it.”
"OK... " Mike said going through what he found. "Jordan look at this... That Cardassian - was defecting."
Jordan pushed himself off of the table and came around to look behind his back. “Damn!” Was all he said. “I need to share this with Jude. We need to find out what kind of information she has.”
"That's not all. According to this - It looks like they were being followed by an unknown vessel and crew members started to dissappear - and then the logs stop." Mike said.
“Disappearing huh?” Jordan looked at the console. “There are answers and we will find them, sooner or later.”
"I'm looking at transporter logs, shuttle logs - nothing is out of the ordinary. And If they were sent to space - we'd have noticed that." Mike said.
“So they disappeared into thin air.” Jordan nodded. “I agree with that but it isn’t that simple.
There are answers and we will find them.”
“There are so many different things that could have happened. They could have been vaporized or taken off the ship. Who knows. All I know is that the crew were trying to help that cardassian.” Mike said.
“Then we concentrate on her.” Jordan said. “I’m going to let you continue to dig while I go speak with Jude. He is going to have to get together with V’Lar and interrogate the Cardassian.”
“ sounds good. Let me know what she says and maybe we can piece more together.”
“I’m in none too big a hurry to get there.” Jordan sat back with a grin. Jude and V’Lar go around all stiff and serious. Life is too short for that.”
"They work well together though, and now my uncle is on board I can only imagine how V'lar is going to be." Mike said.
“Could be a test of wills around here.” Jordan said with another grin. “Only personnel who scares me is your Aunt Dakota. Other than that they can all kiss my…” he shook his head and laughed. “Well, not really you know I am a bit particular
About who sees it these days.”
"I'm scared of my Uncle. When he's got something on his mind and a plan - that's it. I think those two are perfect for each other..." Mike said laughing. "As for your rear, that is definately not something I want to see."
Jordan laughed at his words. “Your uncle has a plan and I’m on his team. I’ll help him carry it through Id rather know what he is up to.”
"I agree. I always wonder if anything I'm working on is a part of 'his plan'. But this data is interesting I'll admit." Mike said.
“We’re all a part of the greater plan.” Jordan replied with a laugh. “I think that is what makes him crazy where I am concerned. I don’t ever fit into a plan. Your aunt says I think outside the box.”
“Outside the box and the door “ Mike said laughing. “They are right you know. Without you life would be boring.”
Jordan smiled, his eyes lighting up. “This is who I am. I love how people decide I had a bad childhood and so I need fixing . Or that I am repressing memories and I need a counselor. I don’t need psycho bullshit either. I like who I am.”
"I think it's why we get along so well. " Mike continued to go through the data. "You know, you STILL are supposed to be my wingman. I haven't had any luck yet."
“Wing man?” Jordan grinned. “I thought I came along for the ride.” He walked over and sat down next to him. “Okay I’ll give it the old academy try.”
"I'm not exactly lucky in love." Mike said laughing. "Never my area. You on the other hand..."
“Love?” Jordan looked at him seriously. Mike was one of a very small group he could tell anything to. “I’ve never been lucky at love just platonic relationships. Love is something I don’t ever want in my life.”
"True. I don't see you settling down. Though I could be like my aunt and uncle and never retire and still find each other" Mike said.
“I can see you with a wife and a couple kids.” Jordan said with a smile. “Both of you working and me being an uncle. It works for you. All I have ever known is relationships where there is betrayal and hate.” His eyes met Mikes. "I’m better at the loyal and feelings that come with friendship.”
Mike laughed. "Ok Uncle Jordan. Yeah you are a good friend." Mike looked at the screen. "YES! It's done. I got all the code. I have all the logs now."
“I knew you would break it.” Jordan grinned. “Now let’s see what story it will tell us.”
He wasn’t counting on a whole lot.
"The last log in here is from a Crewman from Engineering. It looks like he was the last one on the ship with the Cardassian. They were being followed by an unknown ship. It had fired on them and he and the Cardassian were hiding. It appears they picked up the Cardassian because she was a spy for us and wanted to give us information. Look at this - in the middle of recording it - he just dissapears. And the ship is struck again and the Cardasian gets hit by debris and it goes black." Mike said.
Jordan sat back. “So no clue where the crew is.” He shook his head. “The Cardassian has to know, I am counting on Jude and V’Lar to get the information for us.”
"Well we have all the information here - so we should go down there and see what they have gotten to. Or the information they have gotten." Mike said.
“I’ll message Lieutenant V’Lar and tell him to meet us with Jude.” Jordan replied. “We can speak with them before the interrogation, I’d like to observe, with you along. You’ve seen the data, you may have some insight.” He looked to Mike. “Let’s go.”
