Mission: Obsidian
Location: Holding Cell

On:

The holding area onboard the Arcadia was quiet, the only guards on duty were bored and uninterested. The Cardassian they were holding peered out at them, not speaking, as if observing their every move. She had, for now, been ignoring the woman standing directly outside of her cell, but that wouldn't be possible for long.

Marty looked at the Cardassian and sighed. “There’s nothing to gain by keeping silent,” she said looking down at her pad. “I’ve got all day,” she said with a grin.

Pav'ol finally pulled her gaze from the guards outside, and shifted them up towards the human woman. A Counselor, they called her. As if she needed counseling.

"I will speak when I have something to say," she said, finally breaking her silence.

“So you can speak,” Marty said with a smirk. “I just about deemed you a mute.”

The Cardassian woman looked at her, unimpressed.

"Is that your professional opinion?" Pav'ol stretched and stood. "What do you want from me?"

“Information,” Marty said. “Why were you Calvary? What happened to it and most importantly, where’s her crew?” It wasn't going to be that easy.

"Oh no you don't, Counselor. Aren't you supposed to be doing a mental evaluation, to make sure I'm..."all there"," the Cardassian asked with a mocking smile?

“You don’t seem mentally unstable to me,” Marty said with a smirk. “You must know something about what happened over there?” The Cardassian woman frowned, narrowing her eyes.

"You don't honestly expect me to tell you anything, right? I was hauled off that vessel, locked in this cage, and I'm supposed to spill my "secrets" to you because you ask?"

“If you gave up your so called secrets, it would go a long way to getting you out of here,” Marty replied crossing her arms. “You don’t expect us to just give you free run of our ship. For all we know you may have been what destroyed the Calvary in the first place. So I guess this physic eval is over unless you’re willing to talk to the captain. What’s it gonna be?”

A range of emotions flickered over Pav'ol's face. Taking a step back, she began breathing heavily and quickly, trying to calm herself down.

"You....you think I destroyed the Calvary?"

“If you didn’t,” Marty said calmly. “Then tell us who did so we can make that determination for ourselves otherwise what else have we got to go on but you.” The Cardassian woman blinked a few times, and grit her teeth. She opened and shut her mouth a few times, wrestling with what to say. Finally, she steeled herself, and spoke.

"I wasn't even on the ship that long. They picked me up as a passenger from Starbase 21, they were giving me a ride to... it doesn't matter where. I went to sleep, and when I woke up... everyone was gone." She glanced up at the Counselor when she finished.

Marty found the story to be a bit ludicrous, how could a ship be destroyed and the crew missing and this woman slept through the whole thing. “I’ll report to the captain what you’ve told me but I’m sure he’s going to have more questions especially after what you just told me, are you sure there isn’t anything else?” Marty asked curiously. Pav'ol looked stunned.

"I am sorry that you do not believe me, but I can only tell you what happened. When I woke up, the crew was gone... and then something hit me on the back of the head, and I woke up only minutes before your crew took me."

“Look, it’s not that I don’t believe you, I’m just gathering the facts and any information you can give us would help. If you remember anything else, let someone know,” Marty said smiling. “Can I get you anything to make you more comfortable?”

The other woman looked around the empty cell, her eyebrows raised.

"Well as I do not even have a blanket, I could use several things. Maybe something to read as well?"

“I’ll have them delivered right away, as far as reading material that will be some what limited but you can access the ship’s library using the computer terminal located in your cell,” Marty said with a nod. The prisoner nodded.

"My thanks," she said in reply, finally returning to her seated position in the center of the room.
