Mission: Obsidian

On:

After disconnecting the call with Jude and V’Lar, Marius immediately sent a message to the Admiralty, requesting that they join him as soon as possible in his Ready room for and urgent matter. Time was of the essence.

Chris had just finished an intelligence briefing with his people when he got the message from Marius. He walked over to his ready room and chimed. As he took his hand away, Olvera walked up, followed quickly by Michael Tabolt.

"Do you know what this is about," Michael asked the others. When they shook their heads no he frowned, and turned to the door.

"Come in," Marius said from within.

Chris waited for Dakota to walk in first and then he went in followed by Michael. He looked at Marius. "You have a worried look on your face Marius." Chris said. "What's wrong?"

Dakota came into the room, her eyes went from Michael to Chris and then looked to the screen. She knew whatever it was, they weren’t going to like it. Marius motioned for them to sit, and shifted in his own chair before speaking.

"First the good news. You'll be glad to know that General Jackson has been found and rescued." Michael's face split into a wide grin.

"Now that's good news!"

“Yes that is good news. What is the bad news!” Chris said. Marius nodded, knowing Chris to get right to the point.

"The bad news is that whoever was holding him captive took his DNA. We have reason to believe that the doctor performing the procedure was a Betazoid, so his security clearance is now at risk." He paused before continuing, knowing that there would be reactions to what he said.

Dakota’s eyes widened. “This is worse than I could imagine. What steps are you taking to retrieve the DNA?” She asked quickly. Marius nodded, the situation was grave as well.

"The away team I tasked to rescue Jackson is now returning to retrieve the DNA. They will update me when they know more." He sighed. "This could lead to a myriad of different problems. Could you three do me a favor and look into whether his access codes have been used in the last six weeks or so?" Michael nodded.

"I can have that answer within the hour."

"Excellent," Marius said. "If they haven't been used, or even if they have, I suggest restricting them for the time being."

"They were restrcited once he went missing and we were notified." Chris said. "What reason besides causing ahell of a lot of trouble could they have for taking his DNA? What else did you hear?"

"Theories, mostly. It's been speculated that it could be used to implicate not only the General in war crimes, but the Federation. It could turn the remaining Federation worlds against us, specifically the Klingons, since Jackson has close ties with them. I suppose if you could look for attempts to use his codes, we could see what has been flagged."

“We need to check out all the theories.” Dakota said seriously. “That way we can stop it.”

"I can get my senior intel people back from their assignments to start working on this. I've got a group in mind. Team Alpha." Chris said.

“Get them up to speed.” Dakota said with a nod. “And let’s get to work.” She knew the situation was grave.

"I will have the Arcadia return here to pick up more aid, as well as a ship or two to assist. This is going to need more than they have," Marius said.

Chris was not happy this was happening but happy that he could get his mind off everything else. "I've already sent messages to get Alpha Team back. They should all be here shortly."

"I suggest you handle the Admiralty and Starfleet Command side of things, as you have more freedom to access areas with your clearance. I'll have my crew handle things that fall within their expertise," Marius said. "I think that does it, we have a lot of work to do in a short time. If I hear anything else I will let you know."

“I agree.” Dakota said. “The away team knows what is going on, if you collect intel information then Marius can pass it on. They know more about this than we do.”

"Agreed. My team already knows who is on this so they will give out information as they get it. They already have the assignment.," Chris said.

"Sounds like we all know what we are supposed to do," Michael said as he stood. "I suggest we get on it."
