Mission: Obsidian

The following is a personal log from CMDR Jordan Haines.

I sit here in my new position on Starbase Obsidian, filled with a sense of certainty that I have made the right choice. The moment I laid eyes on Marius Pontmercy and Mike McMahon, that certainty became even stronger. Seeing the familiar faces during the briefing my nephew, brother and his wife, solidified my belief that this is where I belong. It feels like family, with the exception of a few missing members. I can't help but wish Charlotte Thrace had been offered a position as well. We may have started on opposite sides, but we became friends and then family.

The timing of the offer couldn't have been more interesting. I had just returned from a six-month mission, one that took me to the depths of darkness I wasn't sure I would emerge from. There are parts of a person's soul that should remain untouched, and this mission delved into those depths. The things I witnessed and the actions I took nearly shattered me. Despite knowing that my efforts saved countless lives, the memories haunt me every day. They are not easily erased.

However, I have made the choice to move forward. The station is in need of extensive repairs, and with our crew working together, we will restore it to its former glory. Starbase Obsidian holds a rich history, and it deserves to thrive once again. The challenges ahead may be daunting, but I am confident in our abilities to overcome them.

This captain, along with the familiar faces that surround me, and the unwavering support of the Federation, has not turned their back on me. And in return, I will never turn my back on them. We are a team, united by a common purpose and a shared determination to protect and serve. The bonds we have forged will only grow stronger as we face the trials that await us.

Starbase Obsidian is my new home, and I am ready to embrace all that it entails. The vast expanse of space, the bustling activity of the station, and the diverse individuals who call it home. I am honored to be part of this community, and I am committed to making a difference. Together, we will rebuild, protect, and serve. This is where I belong, and I am determined to make it thrive once again.
