Mission: Secrets
Location: Cybernetics Lab
Timeline: current

This was a day that Ewan had longed wished for though never dared to hope would ever happen. His life's work, an odd phrase considering that he was still relatively young, was about to take one large step forward if, and it was a fairly big if, everything worked as it was supposed to. Stepping into the lab he'd occupied for his work, the lights came on. It was a fairly sizable lab, there was a crescent shaped console in the centre and at the far end there was what looked like an alcove similar to what would be found on Borg ships but this was his own design using Federation technology. In the alcove stood what appeared to be a blonde haired human being with a computer umbilical sticking into her lower back, but she was no human, no she was Ewan's life's work, she was an android built using the research of Doctor Soong and then Bruce Maddox and then Ewan had added his own ideas into the mix. It hadn't always been easy going with this project, the Federation's focus having shifted more inward in recent decades had led to a level of scepticism and of course there were still those who remembered Utopia Planitia in 2385 and didn't believe the truth about it. However despite all that Ewan had continued to work at it, secretly at times and it hadn't been without sacrifice but here he was at last.

"Computer." Ewan said stepping over to the console "Display the results of the most recent diagnostic scan." the computer brought up the results.
"All systems and components read normal." the computer said
"Good." Ewan said "Confirm that the emotion chip is set to disabled."
"Confirmed." the computer said
"Initiate activation sequence and disconnect umbilical." Ewan said
"Initiating." the computer said

Ewan could only wait and watch as the android's power systems came online, there were two of them interlinked - the expected positronic brain but combined with a bio neural gel pack, in essence brain, heart and blood. This was it, this was the moment of truth. The eyes opened revealing eyes that were gold - compound retina's.

"Hello Codi." Ewan said
"Hi Dad." Codi said
"Long sleep?" Ewan said
"Only sleep, oh you're trying to be funny." Codi said
"And you've got the contractions down." Ewan said "Internal system diagnostic, let's check you're working correctly." he watched as the trademarked head tilt occurred for a moment and smiled.
"All systems working within normal parameters." Codi said
"Good." Ewan said "I have a request for you."
"A request?" Codi asked
"You recall Maddy Dale?" Ewan said
"Doctor Maddy Dale, assistant chief medical officer Starbase Obsidian." Codi said "Won the Daystrom Prize for devising a medical technique to effect a brain transplant."
"Correct, well she has asked whether you'd consider having this sample." Ewan said he held up a hypospray with a glowing blue liquid in its tube "injected into your bio neural gel pack, essentially pumping it through your blood so to speak and altering what otherwise be your DNA. It won't cause harm to you, it may however alter what you find yourself doing in your daily life around here. It's your decision though."

Codi stood silent for a few moments before she nodded "You may proceed." she said, Ewan nodded and walked behind Codi, lifting her top so he could see what he was doing, Codi opened a small access door to her inner workings through this Ewan could see the gel pack reaching in with the hypospray he injected the Tardigrade DNA into the gel pack
"Done." Ewan said withdrawing his hand, Codi closed the door and straightened her clothes. Ewan smiled and handed her a combadge "Go on, go and have a walk around the place."
"Thanks Dad." Codi said before walking out of the lab
"And be home at a reasonable time." Ewan called after her.
